Fast capture
Photograph a defect, give it a title and tag the room in seconds, so a full inspection stays quick.
SnagPal is a free snagging app that does the whole job and asks for nothing in return. Photograph a defect, annotate it, pin it on a floor plan and export a branded PDF report, all from your iPhone or iPad. There is no account to create, no subscription, no trial that quietly ends, and no cloud. Every feature works fully offline and your data stays on your device. Free is not a teaser here, it is how the whole app works.
No sign-up. No card. No cloud. Download and start snagging.
Genuinely free
A lot of apps call themselves free and then ask for a card, cap the useful bits or sell your data. SnagPal does none of that. Here is exactly what you get and what you are never asked for.
No account to create
You do not sign up, log in or hand over an email address. Open the app and start snagging straight away.
No subscription and no trial
There is no monthly fee and no free trial that quietly turns into one. The app does not expire or downgrade after a set number of days.
No in-app purchases
Nothing is locked behind a one-off payment or an unlock. Capture, annotation, floor-plan pins, reports and offline use are all included.
No per-report or per-export charge
Export as many branded PDF reports as you like. You are not charged per snag, per project or per export.
No cloud lock-in
Your snags live on your device, not on a server you have to keep paying for to access your own data.
No ads and no data harvesting
There are no adverts, and because there is no account and no cloud, there is no profile of you being built or sold.
Honest answer
It is a fair question, so here is the straight answer with no marketing spin.
SnagPal is a focused free tool built by Bulldogs Digital Ltd, a small UK software company. We wanted a snagging app that was fast, clean and did the whole job, and we decided the simplest thing to do was to give it away rather than wrap it in accounts, trials and tiers.
Because there is no account and no cloud, there is very little for us to run. Your snags, photos and reports stay on your device, so we are not paying to store your data and we have no reason to build a profile of you or sell anything on. There is no advertising in the app either. That keeps it genuinely free rather than free until you hit a limit.
We are honest about the trade-off: there is no team sync, no shared cloud workspace and no web dashboard, because the app runs entirely on your device. For most snagging - one person walking a property and producing a report - that is exactly what you want. If we ever add optional paid extras, the core snagging features described on this page are intended to stay free.
The short version
No catch. A small UK company made a good free snagging app, your data stays on your device, and there is nothing to buy, subscribe to or sign up for. What you get
The free part is not a stripped-back version. You get the full app. Here is the short tour - the features page covers each one in depth.
Photograph a defect, give it a title and tag the room in seconds, so a full inspection stays quick.
Mark up each photo with arrows, circles and labels right in the app, with no third-party editor.
Drop a numbered pin on the floor plan for each snag so the location is never in doubt.
Tag each snag by room and the trade responsible, then filter or group to turn a list into a plan.
Export a clean, professional PDF with your own logo, every photo and the floor-plan pins, in one tap.
Every feature runs on the device with no signal, which matters on half-built or empty properties.

Free vs paid
Plenty of good snagging tools exist, and many of them charge. It is worth understanding what you are weighing up, fairly and without knocking anyone.
Many snagging apps run on a monthly or annual subscription, a per-seat fee or a freemium model that caps reports or exports until you upgrade. They often store your data in the cloud, which usually means an account and an ongoing dependency on their service to reach your own snags.
Hiring a professional snagging inspector for a new-build is a genuinely useful service, and one that typically costs somewhere in the region of £300 to £600 for a single property. It buys you an expert eye, which is worth it for many people.
SnagPal sits in a different place. It is the free tool you use to do the logging and reporting yourself - or alongside a professional survey if you commission one. You get the capture, annotation, floor-plan pins and branded PDF without a subscription, without an account and without your data leaving your device.
It is not a like-for-like replacement for an expert inspector, and we would not pretend it is. But for producing a clean, evidenced snag list yourself, it does the job for free.
